September 2010 Volunteer Opportunities

Ag Against Hunger (AAH) is looking for volunteers to get involved in their gleaning program Friday, September 10, 2010. Working with local growers, volunteers help collect high quality, marketable produce that has been left behind after commercial harvest. The food they collect is then transported to food banks and pantries in the tri-county area. 

Help AFRP staff with data entry and filing.

Must be available weekdays between 9 AM and 5 PM 

Peacock Acres

Assist children in a group home setting with homework. Facilitate arts and crafts activities. Story telling and reading to children. Kids are between 11 and 14.

Greet clients and inform staff of their arrival. Answer

 incoming phone calls and make appropriate transfers to staff or referrals to outside destinations. Office tasks such as making copies, assisting with mailings, printing business cards. Ensure that areas are tidy and stocked with appropriate supplies. 

In extreme need of volunteers to feed the sheltered dogs on Saturday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, and Sunday mornings from 8:00am to 10:00am.

Volunteers needed to walk and socialize the dogs from 12:00pm to 5:30pm, Monday through Saturday (2 hour shift). 

We need volunteers to deliver meals to homebound

 Seniors in the greater Salinas area. Meals are delivered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Volunteers drive their own vehicle and should allow about 2 hours to make all their deliveries. If you are available at least once or twice a month to help deliver meals

We are looking for volunteers interested in representing Breathe California at health fairs. The fairs are held at places like colleges, community agencies, and corporations. Volunteers will staff a booth from which they will distribute literature as well as promote our agency’s programs and services.
