These are images of 200 plus volunteers in action. Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of our sponsors and donors, 3,335 students will be equipped with new, fully stuffed backpacks, providing them the tools they need to succeed in class. The volunteers gave a total of 925 hours over a four day period to sort donated supplies and Stuff the Bus. What does 3,335 backpacks look like?
- Lined up end-to-end they reach from the National Steinbeck Center to Salinas High or Fisherman's Wharf to Monterey High School.
- 46 buses would be needed to fit all the students receiving backpacks.
- Enough backpacks to fill 300 bathtubs
In partnership with the Monterey County Office of Education, the backpacks were delivered to school districts from Carmel to Castroville and Salinas to San Ardo for distribution to children in need.
