My name is Mary Castagna and this is how I LIVE UNITED…
When I retired I wanted to volunteer at a place that had influenced my childhood, the library. As a child I remember spending countless Saturdays in my local library, trudging home with an armload of books. Now I “work” at my local library on committees and projects to help keep this essential community resource thriving for future generations. I also feed my lifelong love of classical music by helping local music presenters in their outreach to new youth audiences. The music professionals get satisfaction from their volunteer work but I’m always thrilled when I see a child who’s discovered a talent or love for music. Volunteering at our local hospital and volunteering for United Way are other ways I participate in the workings of our diverse community. It is such a joy to be able to “give back” to the world that has been so good to me.
