Give to Long-term Solutions to Prevent Crises from Arising

This is the Season to give thanks to those who make Monterey a safe, prosperous, thriving community. A community we're proud to call our home.

For those of you who know me, you know I have served on the board of The Salvation Army Monterey Peninsula Corps for many years.  In addition to my board duties, I take great joy in our Annual Red Kettle Bell Ringing campaign.  Not only does Red Kettle give people an easy way to give back to Monterey County, it gives me an opportunity to share the good work of The Salvation Army.  When people drop their donation in the Red Kettle, they know it will help our friends and neighbors who are in crisis - those in need of a hot meal, transitional housing or a way to make a child's holiday wish come true.

But that's a temporary fix.  That's why I take great pride in the work United Way is doing to help people avoid crises in the first place.  I have been part of the United Way family for many, many years because they share my vision
that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.  At United Way, we help families stretch their paychecks and develop the skills to take care of themselves and their families.  Whether it's increasing the supply of affordable, quality child care and housing, free tax prep or financial literacy, United Way lays the foundation for our community to prosper.

Wishing you and your families a Joyous Holiday Season!
