MLK Day Recap
On Monday, January 15, over 70 volunteers gathered at Oldemeyer Center in Seaside to help prepare 200 bagged lunches. These lunches were distributed to five agencies that work directly with the homeless population.
Those agencies were:
Community Homeless Solutions
Victory Mission Church
Gathering for Women
Safe Place
Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley
Each lunch, received a personal touch, as the volunteers decorated each bag and included an encouragement note to each recipient. The spirit of service was truly present this day as volunteers from all ages and areas of our community showed up and chose to spend the day ON and not off, in remembrance of Dr. King's legacy.
