Participants will learn the differences between common types of debt, how interest rates and loan terms affect the cost of borrowing, what influences credit reports and scores, and practical strategies for managing debt and building or improving credit.

Topic: Homebuying Basics

Presenter: Bay Federal Credit Union

Home Buying Basics introduces participants to the financial foundations of becoming a homeowner. Participants will explore the benefits and responsibilities of homeownership, assess their financial readiness, and learn how income, debt, savings, credit, and upfront costs affect mortgage qualification. The session also addresses common homebuying myths and helps participants identify practical next steps toward preparing to purchase a home.;

Planning for Savings helps participants build practical strategies for saving consistently and preparing for unexpected expenses. Participants will explore why saving can be difficult, the role of emergency savings in financial stability, how to set realistic savings goals, and ways to make saving easier through automation and appropriate savings accounts.

Presenter: Monarch Small Business Development Center

Small Business Bookeeping combines practical financial training with an opportunity to connect with other local small business owners and support organizations. Participants will learn core bookkeeping concepts, explore how QuickBooks Online can support day-to-day financial management, and ask questions about their own business needs. The workshop will also include time for networking, introductions, and learning more about local small business resources available through SBDC and United Way.
